Daynote - Wed 9 Apr
Chopping and changing.

Finally got out for a walk this morning, after missing them on Monday and Tuesday thanks to late nights. Felt great. It didn't quite look like the above photo (a bit greyer and more Scottish) but it was a very nice morning nonetheless.
ON DECK: Back into the editing this morning and a nice -646 words chopped, taking me under 116k for the manuscript, or about 35% of my target word count reduction. I've just about recovered from losing my Supernote annotations and their support people are trying to help me get them back, so I'm forging on and chipping away, word-by-word.
In non-writing but publishing world, I had a lot of very exciting conversations in the last couple of days, as well as a lot of admin to do at fairly short notice. Nothing I can talk about yet (aside from earning out, which triggered some of the conversations), but all good stuff.
LISTENING: Absolutely loved this interview with my friend Tariq Ashkanani (one half of the Page One Podcast and a superb crime writer) on the excellent Talking Scared podcast. Neil McRobert is such a great interviewer, and this episode made me even more excited for Tariq's launch event tomorrow.
WATCHING: We fancied something a bit lighter after a very busy couple of days, so we watched a few episodes of LAST ONE LAUGHING on Amazon last night. Comedians, in a house full of cameras, trying not to laugh. Surprisingly compelling.
READING: I haven't settled on my next book yet, because I've had a short notice request come in for an event at the end of the month which means I'll need to read a pretty chunky book relatively quickly. So I'm mentally clearing the decks for that.
LINK: I sometimes like to put together image references when I'm doing particularly detailed work set in real places, and I recently saw someone on Bluesky talking about the app Pureref that they use for this. So I'm going to download it and have a wee play, since it's free for individuals.
UP NEXT: More editing, surprise surprise. Then Tariq's event tomorrow night, which I'm really looking forward to. Onward!
