Haar on a Thursday.

As it often does after a couple of days of sunshine, East Lothian has been cloaked in haar, or sea fog, sweeping across the estuary from the west. I went out in shirt sleeves this morning and got pretty chilly.

ON DECK: I got a very exciting email yesterday, followed by a flurry of activity. It was a really nice boost during the long, unbroken slog of an edit. I should hopefully be able to talk about it tomorrow, but for now it must remain secret.

The editing went well today, chopping great chunks of words out of some scenes that were working okay, but going on a bit. That got me -935 words cut and dropped me below 118k. I'm pretty hopeful I'll manage 5,000 words cut in total this week, which would be excellent.

LISTENING: I loved this episode of Drafting Notes about pushing through on bad writing days, and not just because I got a namecheck.

WATCHING: We watched another episode of THE STUDIO on Apple TV+ last night and it's fantastic. Ron Howard was clearly having the time of his life in his guest starring role.

READING: More PROJECT SCARLET at lunch and GOGMAGOG in the evening. I'm near the end of the latter and I have no idea where it's going.

LINK: The Harrogate Crime Writing Festival revealed its programme yesterday, and it's looking great. Can't wait!

UP NEXT: More editing tomorrow, and the same again next week. Turns out books are long and take ages to edit. But so far, it's going swimmingly.

Onward!
