Thursday but it feels like a Friday.

Once more, no walk this morning, but it wasn't due to the rain for once - we've got a crew replacing our (older than I am) fence, so I needed to stick around and open up for them. Forty five minutes after they arrived, our old fence is nearly entirely gone. It was mostly still standing out of habit, I think.

ON DECK: A cheeky -649 this morning. Not as much to cut in the last few chapters, but it's coming along nicely. I'm now firmly in chapters I haven't laid eyes on since I drafted them and, I'm very pleased to say, they don't entirely suck. The structure seems to be mostly holding together, which is a relief.

LISTENING: I enjoyed this interview with Veronica Roth on the No Write Way podcast. Quite the journey she's had.

WATCHING: We watched the latest episode of THE STUDIO last night and it was fantastic. The director cameos, the frenetic pace, the way each episode is focusing on a different character in the studio power struggle - fantastic show.

READING: Still reading PROJECT SCARLET, but I've also started on ALL THE COLOURS OF THE DARK by Chris Whitaker, in preparation for our event at the end of the month. Absolutely gorgeous prose.

LINK: Speaking of events, the fantastic Night Owl Books in East Linton has posted the event listing for my conversation with Iain MacGregor, author of THE HIROSHIMA MEN, which is on July 2nd in Dunbar. If you're in East Lothian, do come along! Tickets from £6.

An event image for Hiroshima Men, featuring the cover of the book and event details (see text and link above)

UP NEXT: A very, very welcome long weekend to come. I have a bunch of reading to do and I'll do some writing on Friday and Monday, but over the actual weekend I'm really looking forward to a bit of rest and catching up with friends and family.

Onward!
