Daynote - Thu 19th Sep 2024
Hard to believe, but A RELUCTANT SPY has been out in the world for a full calendar week as of this morning. That's kind of wild to me. I had been warned by various author friends about the huge crash that comes after a book launch, and I'm glad of it, because it's been more of a gentle coast downhill for me, back to the day-to-day. Re-establishing my daily routines and getting back into a writing project has helped a lot.
ON DECK: 485 words this morning on PROJECT SCARLET - this was just me getting up a bit late (curses on my new, very comfortable mattress) and faffing around a bit, rather than being due to outlining or anything, but progress is progress.
LISTENING: Wanted to make some progress this morning, so I put on the Mile 22 soundtrack, which makes me type faster. Mid-budget action movie soundtracks often do that, I find.
WATCHING: No TV last night, but I did play a bit of A PLAGUE TALE: REQUIEM, which is gorgeous to look at and very tense. Good game.
READING: More NINTH LIFE - very close to the end now and it's also very tense.
UP NEXT: Not going as fast as I'd like on SCARLET, but getting there nonetheless. I expect all of next week will be spent on it. I've got a busy weekend coming up (a family birthday, a podcast recording and prep for trips for both me and others) so while I'd quite like to sneak in a bit of writing, I don't think I'm going to. But next week I will be full bore on SCARLET.
