A status update full of things I can't talk about.

A blurb from M.W. Craven

Got some good news yesterday, and some exciting stuff in the pipeline. It's very much feeling like the launch of A RELUCTANT SPY is hoving into view and bearing down on me extremely rapidly. A lot of stuff happening behind the scenes. But even when very exciting things are happening, there's still writing to be done.

ON DECK: A really chunky 3,165 words this morning. I should have really gone out for my morning walk (it was a nice sunny morning too) but when I reached the end of my usual 90 minutes I was maybe 1,000 words from the end and I decided to just get it finished, hence the longer working time and bigger word count. This is something I try not to get into the habit of doing too often, because my morning walk is a really important part of my day and I get really grumpy if I miss it for too many days, but when I'm right at the end of a piece of work, sometimes I can't resist.

LISTENING: Poly Pineapple by Bicep, pretty much on repeat. It's a banger.

WATCHING: Two episodes of GRISELDA last night. It's entered the 'coke-fuelled paranoia' stage. It's a great show with a cracking script, you should give it a watch.

READING: Another few chapters of NINTH LIFE last night. One thing I like about this series is how Stark Holborn plays with form with each new book in the series. This one is structured as a whole bunch of documents from various archives and it's working really well for me. The last couple of chapters I read last night were a full-on film script and I was clapping with delight as I read them.

UP NEXT: I'll give Ridealong an edit this evening I think (it's a chunky 13k words right now and I could probably stand to lose a fair bit of that) and get it off to my crit group, then tomorrow it's sample time for PROJECT SCARLET. I'm really looking forward to that, now I have some drafting momentum. It's going to be fun returning to the characters and the world. I was thinking up lines of dialogue and descriptions while I was hoovering yesterday and giggling to myself.
